Dr. Pauley – Dental Center of Atlanta
Dr. Nicole Lilia Smith is passionate about providing thoughtful, comprehensive dental care that helps patients feel comfortable, informed, and confident throughout treatment.
A Georgia native, Dr. Smith grew up in Marietta and has spent most of her life in the Atlanta area. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology, graduating summa cum laude, before receiving her Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. She then returned to Georgia to complete a General Practice Residency at the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University.
Dr. Smith believes exceptional dentistry begins with understanding the whole patient. She takes the time to listen carefully, explain treatment options clearly, and create personalized plans based on each patient’s health, needs, and goals.
Through her advanced residency training, Dr. Smith has gained experience in comprehensive treatment planning, restorative and cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, surgical extractions, bone grafting, root canal therapy, emergency dental care, and moderate IV sedation. She has also worked with medically complex and special care patients in both hospital and clinical settings.
Her hospital-based training has strengthened her calm, attentive approach to care. As an on-call dentist, she has managed dental trauma and infections and has provided treatment for patients with complex medical and developmental needs. Her rotations in anesthesia and emergency medicine have further prepared her to care safely for a wide range of patients.
Dr. Smith has a particular interest in implant and surgical dentistry. She has completed more than 300 hours of advanced continuing education through the American Academy of Implant Dentistry’s MaxiCourse and has helped support instruction in implant planning, placement, and soft tissue management using live patient cases.
She is also committed to research and continued learning. Dr. Smith has studied factors that may contribute to bone loss around dental implants and is preparing to present her findings through the Hinman Dental Meeting’s Table Clinic program.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Smith enjoys endurance running and has completed several marathons. She also loves cycling, hot yoga, Pilates, cooking, and trying new recipes. She lives with her boyfriend and their two dogs, Uma, a dachshund, and Quincy, a standard poodle, and enjoys spending time with her family in Roswell.
Above all, Dr. Smith believes every patient deserves high-quality care delivered with honesty, empathy, and attention to detail. Her goal is to build lasting relationships while helping patients achieve healthier, more confident smiles.
